Island Coconut Festival 2025: A Vibrant Event of Culture, Cuisine, and Creativity

At Gulapa, we take pride in being part of exceptional event production that bring culture, community, and creativity together. Our recent experience at the Island Coconut Festival 2025 in Sri Vijaya Puram was nothing short of inspiring — a true celebration of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands’ heritage through the theme “Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine, and Crafts of the Islands.”

The event was officially inaugurated by Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Tourism), A&N Administration, and attended by dignitaries including Smt. Jyoti Kumari, IAS and Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, along with officers, local entrepreneurs, and enthusiastic visitors.

The atmosphere was festive from the very beginning. The Nicobarese tribe warmly welcomed guests with traditional garlands, setting the tone for an event rich in authenticity and local charm. As part of our event production observations, we were impressed by how every detail — from the stage setup to the backdrop Bandung-style decorative arrangements — reflected thoughtful design and cultural harmony.

Each booth told a story. From handmade crafts and coconut-based delicacies to innovative wellness products, participants showcased how the coconut remains central to the island’s way of life. For us at Gulapa, it was a reminder that meaningful events are those that highlight local identity while embracing creative execution.

Competitions added excitement throughout the festival. The Coconut Dehusking Challenge drew cheers from the crowd as participants demonstrated skill and endurance, while the Cooking Competition filled the venue with the inviting aroma of coconut-infused dishes. These engaging moments captured the true spirit of community-driven events.

Government departments and local associations also exhibited impressive coconut-based innovations — from chocolates and cookies to artisanal crafts. Meanwhile, the Sports Activity Zone kept the younger visitors entertained with chess games, drawing contests, and a lively Coconut Throw event that brought smiles all around.

Cultural performances were another highlight. Dancers from the Kailashpati Dance Academy and Sujata Dance Academy mesmerized the audience with semi-classical and folk-fusion pieces, followed by live music from Melody Mix and Soul Music Association that kept the festive energy alive.

From our perspective at Gulapa, this event was a perfect example of how thoughtful event organizer bandung can transform a cultural celebration into an immersive experience. The use of well-designed backdrops and stage elements helped elevate the visual storytelling, much like the elegant backdrop Bandung concepts we often integrate in our own productions.

Ultimately, the Island Coconut Festival stands as a tribute to heritage, sustainability, and creative collaboration. It demonstrates how culture and design can come together to create lasting impressions — something we at Gulapa continuously strive to achieve in every project we produce.

For those who haven’t experienced it yet, the festival continues tomorrow (October 10) from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at ITF Ground — a must-visit event where the coconut takes center stage in every form imaginable.
